We are so unbelievably grateful to have received this honor to be awarded and recognized as a “NO-KILL SHELTER” during the entire calendar year 2022. We have worked incredibly hard to make our facility a no-kill shelter. This means a lot of work. A lot more cleaning and a lot more time spent hunting for homes and rescues. But it is time well spent as we know that we give it our absolute all to make sure every single animal that enters Surry County’s Animal Shelter gets to live the entirety of their life. This award was received by complete surprise and is the most significant achievement this facility could have received. This is due to an outstanding staff, volunteers, and the upmost support of Sheriff Carlos Turner. Thank you all for supporting and believing in our mission.

Notes: May came to us in May of this year, alongside her sister April, although they were picked up on separate days. She is a little skittish on a leash, but that completely subsides once she goes to plan in our outside runs. She will run around and smile at you (and whine a little bit - she is quite vocal). With some patience and training, she would make the perfect family dog!

The dog adoption fee is $90.
- Adoption of dogs is open to residents of Prince George, Sussex, Southampton, Isle of Wight, James City, and Charles City areas of VA.
- Dogs that have been spayed/neutered are available for adoption to any location including out of state residents.
